I found this blog feature on my website and thought, hey, why am I not taking advantage of that to just talk about preschool and how much I love it!
So here I am.
Another school year is almost over. Next week we have our annual preschool graduation. Because of Covid, it's definitely not going to be what I had envisioned but I am going to make the best of it and I know the children will have fun.
When I look back over this year, I can't believe what a crazy year it has been. We made it through without any major illnesses and not having to close at all because of Covid restrictions. We do still have summer classes, and all but one of my current kiddos are returning for that, but in a few short months I will lose so many to kindergarten. Even my own. We are only going to do part time because it's junior kindergarten and he is only 4 but I can't believe he will be gone two days a week. He is very excited. And I am excited that he will be around children he has known for awhile(one he has basically grown up with). But sad at the same time.
I do look forward to new smiling little faces starting in September and some returning students. I will also have siblings of some of my graduating preschoolers so that's super exciting too.
I am really in awe of how much my preschool has grown and changed. Just over three years ago I started thinking about switching from daycare to preschool. I was so afraid I'd never have students. And that first September, I started with one and my son. But quickly it grew and families started finding me and seeing what I was doing with these amazing little learners.
I truly am blessed with amazing preschool families. It's amazing how quickly these children carve a place in my heart. I know I will remember them forever. I can say that without a doubt because I remember the first daycare I worked in at 20 years old and I remember those children. They would be mid-twenties now but they were a huge part of me and my love of this job.
As we head into summer, I will try to share what we do at preschool and some of our fun summer plans. But first, to get through graduation :)
